School Profile

Greenfield Middle School is made up of sixth, seventh and eighth grades. We have approximately 480 high energy students who we look forward to meeting and working with everyday.

Sixth grade is the first time that students from all the elementary buildings come together. Our sixth grade staff works to make this transition for students as smooth as possible. Sixth grade students are on an eight period day where they experience a two period “block” for Math and Language Arts/Reading along with classes in Science, Social Studies and an OAA intervention class. They then have rotation classes every day with Art and Music for six weeks and Health and Physical Education for twelve weeks. Sixth graders also have the opportunity to experience band as an elective. This schedule is separate from our seventh and eighth graders.

Seventh and eighth graders are on a seven period day. Language Arts/Reading is a 2 period “block” while all other classes are the traditional one period a day. Math, Science, and Social Studies complete the core courses. Physical Education, Health, Computer Technology and OAA math prep are the rotation courses. Students also have the opportunity to choose between Band, Choir or the Family and Consumer Science classes for their electives.

Eighth graders who successfully complete a semester of Physical Education (½ credit) or a full year of Algebra (1credit) will receive high school credit towards high school graduation.
