Practice field project days #69-78 - Be sure to follow the updates on our social media accounts, website, and app! Drumroll, please...🥁🥁🥁 TODAY BROUGHT SOD! 👏🏼 The team placing the sod worked into the evening, and weather pending, the work is expected to be finished quickly. Also set to be finished in the next couple of days is the digging of the aggregate piers. The large piece of equipment digs down into the ground at each one of the 496 flags. It is used to clear the holes and then fill them with gravel. Finally, the delivery date for the custom designed steel frame building has been moved up to September 29. The pictures show three stages of sod placement and the equipment completing the aggregate piers. Practice field project days #51-68 - Be sure to follow the updates on our social media accounts, website, and app! Weather put a damper on things a little as the irrigation work couldn't be completed in the mud. Now things are moving along, and the work should be completed in the next day or two. 👏🏼 Temporary electricity will be ran to the irrigation system in order to keep the sod watered as it "takes" to the soil. What are those white pipes coming up out of the ground in the field area? In each one is a sprinkler head, and they protect the heads from being damaged during sod installation. The work to date has focused primarily on the fields and the perimeter of the site. Yesterday, work began on the building area. A survey crew from McCarty Associates arrived onsite to "locate" the building. They utilized lasers and GPS technology to locate not only the corners of the new building, but also all of the footings required to support the building. In the coming days the site contractor will excavate all of the footings and dig aggregate piers that will be placed under each footing. This work is intended to ready the soil to support the building. Can you guess how many flags were placed? Practice field project days #41-50 - Be sure to follow the updates on our social media accounts, website, and app! What you can see in today's pictures: ➡️ Thanks to one of our awesome teachers, Mr. Nate Luke, we have some aerial shots of the project to share. ➡️ The ADS (advanced drainage system) is now 100% in place. The irrigation system will be in place and complete once the work for the water tap-in has been completed. That is currently scheduled for the beginning of next week. The irrigation system has to be in place in order to care properly for the sod (especially in this dry weather). The water tap-in of course is also for the building, for which construction will begin in the fall. ➡️ The sidewalks have been completed and provide a visual for how nice the finished product will look. The courts are almost ready for striping, posts, and backboards to be added. Finally, you can see a bit of an outline showing where the new parking spaces will be on the McClain Avenue side. A common question asked recently has been about the moving of the dirt. When Googled, one can find the question - Why do construction workers move dirt around so much? This question is apparently one that is asked regularly. The best online answer was, "The mounds of dirt are strategic." For our particular project, digging has been occurring for the advanced drainage system, the irrigation system, field grading, preparation for the building pad, and preparation for the parking area. Digging many feet deep was required to find good soil. Also, soil is moved around to aerate it, which is a necessary step in the process. Reminder: The Summer Tiger Bites program begins tomorrow, June 5, 2023! Children do not have to be present when an adult picks the meals up, and no paperwork has to be completed. Our district looks forward to providing this opportunity through August 4.
