During our May 19 pre-commencement dinner, we recognized our 14 retiring team members. Together, they have dedicated almost 300 years of service to our district! Whether they are planning to travel, spend more time with family, or return to our district in a different capacity, we wish all of them the very best. 💜💛😊 Pictured are Amy Kline, Debbie Shumate, Mike Shumate, Cathy Rivas, Donnie Willman, Bob Schumm, Suanne Edwards, Ron Sexton, Diane Bell, and Joellen Wagner. Not pictured are Candy Black, Debbie Burgess, Jean Goddard, and Cindy Howland.

Mrs. Harper and Mrs. Black’s 8th-grade class participated in a special event centered around the classic novel, "The Outsiders." As part of our English curriculum, the students were encouraged to bring the story to life by dressing up as characters from the book.It was truly inspiring to witness the creativity and enthusiasm displayed by our students. Many of them embraced the spirit of the greasers, with leather jackets, rolled-up jeans, and slicked-back hair. They truly captured the essence of the working-class characters like Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally. On the other hand, we also had students who dressed as the affluent socs, embodying their more privileged lifestyles with preppy attire, designer labels, and perfectly coiffed hair. Their portrayal of characters like Cherry, Bob, and Randy added depth to our discussion about class divisions and societal pressures. We are proud of our 8th-grade class for their active participation and commitment in bringing literature to life. By stepping into the shoes of the greasers and socs, they developed empathy, critical thinking skills, and a greater appreciation for the power of storytelling.

Today our fifth grade students visited Greenfield Middle School in preparation for next school year. Thank you to the GMS staff and student leaders for providing tours and making the students feel welcomed. Fifth grade students were also able to enjoy a performance by the MHS marching band and a few of our Tigerettes as they prepare to explore the possibility of joining band as sixth graders. Finally, the students enjoyed a tour of McClain High School provided by Mr. Shelton, ending with a visit to the roof! 😊 #legacyofleadership #mcclaintigers
