Students discussing questions involving group dynamics. Students had the opportunity to explicitly consider what makes a good group member and what makes a positive experience.
After the discussion, students negotiated and designed criteria for establishing individual norms versus group norms. This allowed students the opportunity for a more authentic learning experience.

Seventh and eighth grade students in Mrs. Schelling's Ag Classes are learning about the FFA Creed. Groups of students were each given a paragraph in the creed. Each group were tasked with writing the creed using emojis, drawings, or pictures. When students are finished writing their paragraph of the creed using drawings, they will present their paragraph to the class and be able to recite their paragraph of the creed using their drawings.

Today in Mrs. Dyer's class, students completed the painted cube task. Students had to figure out if a 3x3x3 cube comprised of 1x1x1 cubes (think rubix cube) was dipped in paint and taken apart, how many cubes would have no paint, paint on one side, two sides, and three sides. We then extended it to 4x4x4, 5x5x5, and 10x10x10. The Algebra students were even able to develop equations to solve the problem for any number of cubes! #buildingthinkingclassrooms #mathisfun

Students in Agriculture class learned the nine agriculture career sectors. Students used the Agexplorer website to research a job. Once they found a job that interested them, they were to place their job in the correct Ag Sector. Students then went around to find another job from classmates' posted jobs that interested them and then ecplained why they chose that job.

Mrs. Penwell’s 7th graders have been working hard to set up their writer’s notebook for the year. Students have been adding various quick writes daily to help foster the love of writing. They were excited to start their first creative narrative writing project working on a "Back to School" roll-a-story. We can’t wait to share them in class.

Students learned all about what agriculture is today in class. Students were tasked to list words in their groups that describe what they thought agriculture was. Then, they rotated around the room with their group and added new words to the previous group's list. At the end, they discussed the words and we talked about them as a class. We then watched a short video about what agriculture is and what the 4 F's of agriculture are: food, fiber, fuel, and forestry. Students then worked independently to write their definition of agriculture and 15 ways they use agriculture everyday. Students learned everything in life revolves around agriculture and that it is very important.
